Federal Scholarship Tax Credit
Dear Kings Park Parents and Guardians,
As we continue to look for innovative ways to expand opportunities for our young people, I am reaching out to ask for your help.
The federal government recently established a new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit that will provide tax incentives for individuals who contribute to qualified scholarship-granting organizations. The program is scheduled to begin in 2027, and it was reported in the media last week that New York will be opting into this federal program. The School Superintendents Association AASA recently posted resources to help school districts and residents unpack this new opportunity.
In anticipation of this opportunity, the Kings Park Central School District is exploring the creation of a Kings Park nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization - a community-based organization that could provide additional resources and opportunities in the form of scholarships for our students and families.
We are looking for a small group of interested Kings Park residents who would be willing to help us explore the creation of such an organization. We are particularly interested in individuals with experience or interest in nonprofit organizations, finance, law, fundraising, community organizations, business, education, or philanthropy, although no particular expertise is required.
Our initial group would help determine the foundation's structure, mission, governance, and potential opportunities to support Kings Park students.
If you are interested in being part of this important community effort, please contact me [eagent@kpcsd.org or (631) 269-3311] by Friday, October 30th.
I believe this could be an exciting opportunity for Kings Park to come together and create tax credits for residents and an additional avenue for supporting our children and their educational experiences.
Thank you for your continued commitment to the students and families of the Kings Park Central School District.
Sincerely,
Timothy Eagen
Superintendent of Schools
Kings Park Central School District
