Good morning Kings Park Community.

I wanted to reach out to you this morning with a sincere thank you for supporting the school district’s 2026-2027 budget. I realize that inflation and the current cost of living are high, which is why we kept the increase as low as possible.   I am very grateful for your continued support.  As I always say, Kings Park is a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Thank you to Mr. Cedeno and Mr. Mullaney for putting yourselves out there and running for School Board.  Congratulations to Mr. Mullaney on winning the one 3–year term expiring June 30, 2029.  I look forward to working with you.

Thank you to the students that voted in this year’s Student Vote.   Performing your civic duty is important, and I am glad that so many of our young people have already developed good voting habits.  Below is a brief summary of this year’s Student Vote results:

Question 1
On Tuesday, February 24th, rather than taking a 2nd traditional snow day, all students in Kings Park learned remotely from home.  This allowed us to maintain a full spring recess.  How did the remote day go for you?
57%     I enjoyed it.  It was a little different, but it went well.
34%     I would not want to learn this way all the time, but it was ok.
9%       I did not enjoy it.  Learning this way is very hard for me.

Question 2
Do you feel safe at school?
50%     Always
43%     Most of the time
6%       Sometimes
1%       Rarely
0%       Never

Question 3
On a daily basis, do teachers strike the right balance with the amount of assigned homework?
22%     Always
42%     Most of the time
22%     Sometimes
10%     Rarely
4%       Never

Question 4
At the start of the school year, New York State required a bell-to-bell (entire school day) ban on student use of smart devices (phones) in school.  Do you feel this ban has helped reduce distractions in school and/or improved mental health/well-being?
21%     Yes
46%     No
33%     Unsure or does not apply

Again, thank you for your continued support of Kings Park’s schools.
Have a great day!
