KPCSD - IMPORTANT UPDATE for Tuesday, February 24th

IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE 3

Good afternoon again Kings Park.

I hope you were able to use the afternoon to safely dig out from the storm.  It sounds like the storm may have broken a record!   Unbelievable.

The Town of Smithtown and our District crew have been working hard today to clear our roads, parking lots, and walkways.  However, as I communicated earlier today, due to the amount of snow removal needed, the Kings Park Central School District will be closed tomorrow Tuesday, February 24th for in-person learning.  This includes all activities.  This way we can finish the clean-up and be prepared to open on Wednesday.

After careful research and consideration, tomorrow morning, we will be implementing our districtwide remote instruction plan. For specific information relating to the plan for your child or children, please see the attached PDF, or use this link: https://www.kpcsd.org/elearning

The SCOPE 4-year-old UPK Program will not operate tomorrow (Tuesday).

We understand that a remote learning day will present challenges, and that this is not an ideal learning method for all children.  However, you will recall that we built one traditional snow day into the 2025-2026 calendar, which was already used.  The state “forgave” today, and this same assurance is not in place for tomorrow.  Therefore, a remote instructional day is necessary to preserve a full Spring Recess.  Tomorrow, we will all do the best we can.

Be well,

Timothy Eagen, Ed.D.
