IMPORTANT UPDATE

Good afternoon again Kings Park.

I am updating you on the district’s plans for tomorrow (Monday).  Since my communication earlier in the day, I received some updated information on the Governor’s State of Emergency (EO-58) that was issued for several counties, including Suffolk County and what this order means for school districts.   Additionally, within the past hour the New York State Education Department issued an “important notice” for school districts that may be impacted by this storm.

In summary, both the Governor and Commissioner have provided us with the relief we need, and we are not mandated to flip to remote instruction tomorrow.  With the high winds that are predicted for the region and the potential for power and Wi-Fi outages, this is very good news.  Thus, Monday, February 23rd will be a traditional snow day.

We will evaluate conditions on Monday and update you if there is a need to modify the day for Tuesday.  If the current forecast comes to fruition, we may need additional time for snow removal before we can safely open our schools.  Again, more information to follow.

Be safe.
